If you or your organization are looking for a fun and creative way to promote wellness and reduce stress,
join us for a HealthRHYTHMSTM Group Empowerment Drumming TM Circle, and/or,
one of our other personalized rhythm-based music therapy or wellness programs.

The latest drumming and wellness research suggests the value and benefits of participating in an active music-making activity with rhythm instruments:

  • Reduction of physical stress
  • Improved immunity
  • Emotional stress release
  • Social connection
  • Personal renewal
  • Improved relationships with others/team/management

This innovative and fun personal self-care and wellness enhancement program requires no previous musical experience and focuses not on performance but personal empowerment.  This evidence-based (fancy way of saying well-researched and tested) program/protocol has been used in hospitals, corporations, educational settings, health and wellness centers, and offered via community venues to the public at large.

All instruments are provided, or participants are welcome to bring their own world percussion. Program can meet for four to six 1-hour sessions, as a single session, or can be tailored depending on venue and organizational goals.

We are happy to announce the addition of the BEAT THE ODDS  program to our music therapy consulting curriculum. Here's a description:

"Beat the Odds integrates activities from contemporary drum circles and group counseling to teach skills to children in focusing and listening, team building, leadership, expressing feelings, managing anger/stress, empathy and gratitude... It is inclusive, culturally relevant, and does not bear the stigma of therapy."

"UCLA researchers have shown that Beat the Odds can significantly improve a spectrum of behavior problems in children, such as inattention, withdrawn/depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, attention deficit/hyperactivity, oppositional defiance, and sluggish cognitive tempo."

The Healing Power of Drumming...

"Since having major surgery nine months ago, this is the first experience that  I've had that has helped both sides of the brain feel balanced. I can breathe easier and feel more coherent.  I would like to own a framed drum for continued self-healing".
R. D., One Heartbeat~ HealthRHYTHMS Participant, 2015

"It was a wonderful workshop.  Giselle helped us release and be in the present moment.  She was open and non-judgemental.  Would love to attend another."
 Albuquerque, NM ~HealthRHYTHMS Participant, 2015

"After Katrina, I re-settled in Albuquerque, still alive but faced with the monumental task of starting a new life and making new friends...I heard about (ONE HEARTBEAT RHYTHM CIRCLES) drum circle taking place at the Senior Center. I arrived there, carrying the world on my shoulders. Everyone was drumming away, the young, the very old, the newcomers like me, all with beaming faces. I was hooked instantly. Beating a drum resurrected me, body, mind and heart started re-connecting again. Now I have my own african drum...The beat of the drum has put me together again and I am looking forward to more drumming circles and new friends."   H. A., Albuquerque, NM August 2006

It's 2019 and as we look back at a few of our past wellness and empowerment events, we are grateful for the opportunity to share the healing power of drumming with the community.
